Alex Whitaker.jpgKipsu recently welcomed Alex Whitaker to our Engineering team. Prior to joining us, Alex was a graduate of Prime Digital Academy. Not only is he a great software engineer but also a masterful organist. We're excited to watch him apply his expertise in developing Kipsu. When we flagged down Alex to chat about his experience at Kipsu so far, this is what he had to say. 


  

What drew you to Kipsu

in contrast to other companies? 

I noticed right away after meeting people that everyone at Kipsu is very passionate about what they do. Just as importantly, everyone is friendly and fun to be around. In short, they’re awesome.

 

 What were some things you noticed about the

Kipsu engineering team during your first week?  

Everyone is very supportive, and works to create a positive learning environment in the engineering team. For example, a technology question came up near the end of one day, and rather than giving the team a short answer and go home, Adam took the time to actually draw the problem out and explain it thoroughly on a whiteboard for me and a handful of people on the team. That kind of helpfulness makes for a really great learning community.

 

What challenges are you looking

forward to tackling in your work at Kipsu? 

I’m excited to really dive into the large, dynamic project that is Kipsu. Solving the new challenges that arise as systems continue to evolve is what keeps the work interesting and makes it rewarding.

 

What is your favorite Kipsu core value?

My favorite Kipsu core value is the constant drive to learn and improve. I believe that people should always be seeking to learn something new- both in their work and in life in general- and it’s one of the things I enjoy most about working at Kipsu.

 

Coffee or Diet Coke?

Definitely coffee. Maybe I can best sum up my love of coffee with an Oprah quote that was originally about bread: “I love coffee- I eat it every day.”
